  1. Synopsis:
  2.    set insert_mode [on|off|toggle]
  3.  
  4. Description:
  5.    When this setting is on, text typed on the input line in the middle of
  6.    a text string will shift the text to the right, making room for the
  7.    text being typed.  If it is off, the typed text overwrites anything
  8.    ahead of it.
